Photo Contest

 

September 2008

Parkhill Area Horticultural Society is holding its second annual Photography Show, September 2008. The objectives of the show are to educate and stimulate interest in gardening photography, to provide a venue for artistic expression, and to have fun.

Competition Guidelines

  1. The competition is open to anyone 

  2. Photographs are to be current and taken by the exhibitor

  3. one entry per category is permitted

  4. Entries are to be submitted to the Photography Show Chair at the Regular September Horticulture Society Meeting, September 17 2008, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Parkhill Leisure Club 

Categories for 2008 

  1. Pet(s) or live Critter(s) in a garden (birds, bee, butterflies etc.) 

  2. Welcome to My House (Feature Plant materials at a house entrance)

  3. A Flower Close-up

  4. A Winter Horticultural Scene

  5. Water Garden or Pond Feature

 Rules For Prints

              i) Prints must be in colour on photographic paper and 4"x6" in size. Prints are to be mounted on a 5X7 plain white background.

ii) To ensure an unbiased judgment, your name is not appear on the photograph. A competition number will be assigned to each entry and recorded on the back of the print.

Judging will be done by a selected panel of judges.

Viewing of all photographs will be available at the October 2008 Horticultural Society’s meeting.

Voting for a People’s Choice Award will take place during the October 2008 (October 15, 7:30-9:00 p.m.) meeting by all persons attending the meeting. 

The winners in all classes and People’s Choice Award will be         announced during the November 2008 Horticultural Society’s meeting.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st $10.00
2nd $5:00

It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to pick up or have their entries picked up at the November meeting (November 19, 7:30 -9:00p.m.)
